Senior Python Software Developer

Our client, a Zurich-based Company working at the intersection of IoT and Robotics, is currently looking for a Senior Python Software Developer to join their growing team and who will contribute to their efforts in building cloud-based solutions to manage the industrial drone system, extending its functionalities, and preparing for large-scale commercialization.

In this role, you will contribute to the continuous design, development, test, and maintenance of the Serverless Cloud Back End coded in Python and deployed on AWS.

Your daily tasks will focus on architectural design and development of the Back End code, with an emphasis on reliability and scalability. You will ensure that best practices continue to be the standard in their code base and code review process.

With your background in realizing scalable production systems, you enrich the team’s expertise and become a key contributor to the development roadmap.

In this role you will contribute to the design and development of the cloud back-end applications, with interfaces to the drone system, user-facing dashboard, and client-specific APIs. You will identify new relevant technologies and services and propose architectural patterns that ensure

the performance, scalability, and reliability of the solutions while collaborating closely with the team of software engineers, UX designers, and other internal teams, to design high-quality solutions that deliver high value to the clients and are a pleasure to use.

You will ensure the highest standards of software quality through unit and integration tests, and by

defining (new) local and remote testing processes and infrastructure, spread knowledge about cloud solutions within the department and enable other developers as the shift towards the cloud continues. Assist with the analysis of general and client-specific requirements and participate in daily activities of the team, such as code and design reviews, project planning,

periodic meetings, etc. Mentoring and training other team members on design techniques and coding standards are the tasks you can expect.

At least 4+ years of professional hands-on experience in software engineering, with a focus on

developing and designing cloud-based applications and services is required with a completed degree (MSc, BSc) in computer science, software engineering, or relevant field.

You should have a proven experience in the development and design of scalable, performant, robust, and fault-tolerant micro-service architectures, excellent knowledge of Python programming language, proven experience in NoSQL data modelling, strong commitment to high coding and design/architecture standards and best practices as well as fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Any experience with the following is considered as an advantage: containers (Docker), experience in developing large architectures, serving many clients and users, experience in dealing with partner companies and collaborating with remote teams, knowledge of AWS services (such as Lambdas, DynamoDB, S3, IoT Core, etc.), experience with implementing tracing, monitoring, and alerting (AWS CloudWatch, AWS XRay, etc.) and experience with IoT/robotics applications
