Design at Make the Dot

As the Founding Designer, you’ll define how fashion designers and merchandising teams collaborate with cutting-edge AI tools. From the first interaction to advanced features, your work will set the standard for how the next generation of designers turns their ideas into reality.
This is your chance to own design at a company that is revolutionizing one of the world’s largest industries and enabling designers to spend less time on grunt work and more time doing what they love—being creatively brilliant.

What You’ll Work On

Fashion design is deeply creative yet highly technical. Our users span from junior designers to creative directors and fashion design students. Building tools that meet their diverse needs is both challenging and rewarding.
  • Reimagine design workflows. Turn traditional workflows into seamless, intuitive experiences powered by AI.
  • Shape the end-to-end product experience. From onboarding new users to supporting seasoned professionals, craft interactions that inspire and delight.
  • Craft different design artifacts. Craft every detail of new product features, from idea to design to pixel-perfect execution to marketing
  • Develop a visual identity. Define the visual language and interaction patterns that embody the creativity of the fashion world.
  • Prototype innovative features. Rapidly test new ideas for collaborative canvases, fabric sourcing, and 3D visualization.
  • Develop and Scale the Design System. Manage and continuously improve Make the Dot’s design system to ensure consistency across the product, enhance design efficiency, and streamline the handoff process to engineering.

Early Challenges You’ll Tackle

  1. Bridging the end-to-end design workflow. Designers need to move fluidly between sketches, mood boards, and photorealistic 3D renders. How can we make this seamless while supporting designers in creating production-ready specifications for complex garments?
  2. Cross-team collaboration. Fashion design is just like software design - many cross-functional teams need to work together to bring a product to market. How can we support the merchandising, design, and production teams to collaborate so no one needs to work overtime anymore?
  3. Onboarding for busy designers. Most designers learn by doing. How can we create an intuitive onboarding experience that gets users hooked without heavy tutorials?

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience designing intuitive, user-facing products.
  • Experience shipping 0→1 products with exceptional visual and interaction design.
  • A strong understanding of workflows for creative or prosumer products.
  • Passion for solving complex problems with simple, elegant solutions.
  • Interest in or prior exposure to design patterns for AI-assisted workflows.
  • Ability to work fast and iteratively without compromising quality.
  • Proficient in Figma
