My client is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their team on a day rate contracting basis. The role is based in Galway, with a requirement to be onsite 1 full week per month (3 weeks fully remote from Ireland).

Key Skills:

• At least 5 years working with Oracle, SQL & PL/SQL, data movement, and ETL processes
• Proven skills in SQL performance tuning, with familiarity in Agile methodologies
• Advanced knowledge of data analysis and logical data modeling, with a passion for relational database design
• Experience with data visualization tools, ideally Power BI
• Knowledge of data movement and ETL; Informatica experience is a plus
• Strong proficiency with source control systems
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with distributed project teams across multiple geographies
• Creative thinker with the ability to approach challenges strategically
• Hands-on, proactive, and driven, with a dynamic “can-do” attitude and a strong desire to deliver results

An established organisation operating in the financial services domain is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with strong Java development expertise. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and backend systems that support business‑critical data platforms, analytics, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes
• Build and enhance robust backend services using Java (8/11/17)
• Work with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Hadoop
• Develop and optimise both real-time and batch data processing systems
• Integrate data from multiple internal and external sources, including high‑volume transactional and analytical systems
• Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance in line with industry regulations

My client is seeking an experienced Lead Information Security Engineer to support its Shadow IT and Data Protection programme. This role focuses on governance, enforcement, and escalation for unapproved SaaS and cloud applications, helping the business manage data security and third‑party risk while balancing operational impact.

The role will be an initial 12 month day rate contract with the requirement to be onsite 2-3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Own key elements of the Shadow IT enforcement and governance process
• Define and operate a blocking and escalation framework for unapproved applications
• Assess risk based on data sensitivity, access, and exposure
• Manage exceptions, unblock requests, and high‑impact escalations
• Document decisions clearly, including technical impact and policy alignment
• Work closely with security, technology, legal, privacy, and business teams
• Track and report Shadow IT metrics, trends, and outcomes
• Contribute to the ongoing maturity of a scalable Shadow IT governance model

Key skills:

• Strong background in information security engineering within large environments
• Hands‑on experience with security governance, data protection, and risk management
• Exposure to SaaS, cloud applications, and third‑party risk
• Confidence making and defending risk‑based decisions
• Experience with policy interpretation, enforcement, and escalation management
• Strong analytical and documentation skills

Bonus skills:

• Experience with CASB, SSPM, or DSPM
• Cloud security exposure
• Automation or data analytics experience (e.g. Power BI, Alteryx, Power Automate)

I have a brand new day rate contracting opportunity with a client of mine based in Dublin. This role is a hybrid position, with a contract duration of 12 months.

A bit about the role:

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures with Snowflake, Hadoop, Spark, NiFi.
• Optimise ETL workflows, transformations, and data quality checks.
• Collaborate in agile teams with Product, Data Science, and Engineering.
• Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical standards.

Skills & Experience

• Strong background in data engineering with 8+ years enterprise experience.
• Expertise in Snowflake (performance tuning, security, data sharing).
• Advanced SQL and experience with relational & NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in Python or other OOP/functional languages.
• Experience with Databricks, Kafka, stream processing, message queuing, distributed data processing.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms, CI/CD, version control, testing.
• Ability to work with unstructured datasets and extract insights.
