You will be responsible for developing electrical concepts, single-line diagrams, and system architectures, as well as performing complex power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit calculations, and protection coordination. Strong hands-on experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory is essential for this position, as you will use your expertise to analyse and optimise electrical power systems. You will also size and specify key electrical equipment, including power transformers, HV/MV/LV switchgear, UPS systems, and instrument transformers. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, plant layout planners, clients, and network operators, you will coordinate technical interfaces, support cable routing and equipment placement, and ensure that all electrical designs meet project requirements and applicable standards.
In addition, you will prepare technical specifications, evaluate supplier quotations, and contribute to vendor selection and technical procurement decisions. You will lead technical reviews and design meetings with clients and network operators, take ownership of electrical system solutions, and provide expert guidance throughout project execution. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will also contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, support technical decision-making, and mentor junior engineers, helping to strengthen the team's technical capabilities and standards.
To succeed in this position, you bring a degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification, together with several years of relevant professional experience in electrical engineering, power systems, and industrial plant design. Extensive practical experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory is a key requirement, including power system modelling and analysis. Experience with ETAP, Siemens DIGSI, IEC 61850, EPLAN, and Siemens SIMARIS would be an advantage. You have a strong understanding of electrical protection systems, power distribution, and the design and specification of HV/MV/LV equipment. In addition, you are familiar with engineering standards, technical documentation, project schedules, cost considerations, and quality assurance processes.
You are a self-driven and structured professional with a high level of technical autonomy and the ability to prioritise tasks, make sound engineering decisions, and take ownership of complex technical challenges. Your seniority enables you to confidently lead technical discussions, collaborate effectively across disciplines, and act as a trusted technical contact for internal and external stakeholders. Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are required, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Important: Candidates must hold EU citizenship and already be legally authorised to reside and work in Switzerland. Visa sponsorship and relocation support are not available for this position.
This role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of complex electrical systems within an international engineering environment focused on sustainable infrastructure and energy recovery. If you are an experienced electrical engineer with strong DIgSILENT PowerFactory expertise who enjoys leading power system engineering, solving complex technical challenges, and sharing your knowledge with a multidisciplinary team, this position provides an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the energy transition while further developing your technical leadership capabilities.
