As a Telecom Infrastructure & Network Engineer, you will play a key role in operating and maintaining the telecommunications, network, and infrastructure environments that support business-critical messaging platforms. Your primary focus will be on telecommunications connectivity, protocol-level troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability and availability of complex telecom and infrastructure services across multiple data center and colocation environments.
Your daily responsibilities will include managing SMPP and SS7/SIGTRAN connectivity with carriers, customers, and mobile network operators, supporting the onboarding and testing of new telecom interconnections, and troubleshooting protocol-level issues involving SMPP, SCTP, M3UA, and related technologies. In addition, you will contribute to the operation of enterprise network infrastructure by managing Cisco-based networking environments, Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, BGP routing, and internet connectivity. You will also work with Linux systems, Proxmox virtualization, storage platforms such as Ceph and ZFS, and core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, backup, and high-availability solutions. As part of the engineering team, you will participate in incident management, infrastructure improvements, and an on-call rotation while maintaining documentation and supporting physical infrastructure within modern colocation facilities.
To succeed in this role, you have solid hands-on experience with TCP/IP networking, Linux administration, and structured technical troubleshooting. Experience with Wireshark and packet-level analysis is essential, while knowledge of telecommunications protocols such as SMPP, SS7, SIGTRAN, SCTP, or M3UA would be a strong advantage. You are familiar with switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, and enterprise networking concepts, and ideally have experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Proxmox, or comparable technologies. Exposure to virtualization, storage environments, backup solutions, and high-availability concepts is highly beneficial. You are analytical, solution-oriented, and enjoy solving complex technical challenges while collaborating closely with colleagues across infrastructure and telecommunications. A background in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, networking, or computer science is required. Fluent English is essential. Please note that applicants must hold Swiss or EU citizenship, as visa sponsorship cannot be provided for this position.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly technical engineering team working at the intersection of telecommunications, networking, and infrastructure. You will gain hands-on experience with modern carrier connectivity, enterprise networking, virtualization, and Linux technologies while further developing your expertise in telecom engineering, network engineering, and critical infrastructure operations within a dynamic international environment.
