We are supporting a global technology organisation operating one of the largest and most complex networks in the world. They are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join a high-performing infrastructure team responsible for designing, operating and troubleshooting large-scale, mission-critical IP networks.

 

  • PAYE Contract / 6 months
  • On-site / Dublin
  • Stamp 1G / Stamp 4 / EU Passport

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support large-scale IP networks in a high-availability environment
  • Own and troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues end-to-end
  • Work extensively with BGP and OSPF in production environments
  • Operate and support enterprise and carrier-class routing platforms
  • Perform deep-dive network analysis, fault isolation and performance optimisation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver resilient network solutions

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong IP networking fundamentals with hands-on commercial experience
  • Extensive experience with BGP and OSPF in large, complex networks
  • Proven experience working with Cisco routing platforms, including:
  • 37xx, 49xx, 65xx, 73xx and 76xx series
  • Associated supervisory and line cards
  • Excellent network troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Experience supporting high-traffic, highly available environments

 

Technical Experience (Desirable)

Experience across a broad range of networking protocols and technologies, including:

  • DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3 / OC48)
  • Ethernet & switching: 802.2/3, VLANs, STP (802.1d)
  • IPv4 & IPv6
  • TCP internals and flow control
  • High availability & multicast: HSRP, GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP
  • MPLS & services: LDP
  • Security & access: TACACS, IPSEC, VPNs
  • Monitoring & services: NetFlow, DNS, HTTP

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive platform backlog management and prioritisation across multiple engineering teams
  • Coordinate multi-team releases within a structured and process-led environment
  • Run Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery tracking
  • Ensure consistent delivery cadence and remove blockers across teams
  • Lead release coordination and change management, including alignment with enterprise governance processes
  • Provide clear visibility on progress, risks, and delivery status
  • Support improvements in platform scalability, resilience, and efficiency
  • Delegate and organise work across a small team of cloud and pipeline engineers

 

Required Experience

  • 4+ years’ experience in cloud platform delivery, programme management, or release coordination
  • Strong exposure to cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred)
  • Proven experience managing backlogs, prioritisation, and Agile delivery
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and platform operations
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Confluence, and Azure DevOps

 

Key Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination capabilities
  • Ability to operate across both operational delivery and strategic initiatives
  • Excellent organisational skills with a focus on prioritisation and sequencing of work
  • Solid understanding of release processes, platform operations, and resiliency
  • Ability to influence and drive outcomes without direct line management authority
