I have a brand new day rate contracting opportunity with a financial services client of mine based in Galway. The role will be a hybrid position, where you will be required to be onsite 1 week per month (3 weeks fully remote from Ireland).

 

The Expertise We’re Seeking

  • The role is primarily focused on Python, but open to experienced Java or C# engineers who are eager to cross-train and work with Python.
  • Strong background in RDBMS and AWS.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and data structures.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts (AWS) and CI/CD tools.
  • 6+ years of enterprise-level development experience, with a passion for working in fast-paced environments.

 

The Skills You Bring

  • Demonstrated success in engineering solutions that process large datasets, build scalable applications, and enable rapid prototyping.
  • Strong enterprise development background with a consistent record of driving projects from concept to delivery within ambitious timelines.
  • Deep expertise in object-oriented programming.
  • Hands-on experience developing custom data pipelines to extract, map, transform, and load data into various storage systems such as Oracle, Snowflake, S3, PL/SQL, or shared drives.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or C#, ideally complemented by experience with data structure libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
  • Familiarity with integrating and extracting data from REST APIs.
  • Practical experience scripting in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Prior experience migrating applications to AWS is a strong advantage.

  • Experience delivering large-scale, cloud-native applications within AWS environments.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Proven experience implementing Secure SDLC across engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of DevSecOps principles and security-focused software delivery.
  • Experience working with application security tooling, including:
    • SAST (Static Application Security Testing)
    • DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing)
    • SCA (Software Composition Analysis)
    • Secrets Management
    • Secrets Scanning
  • Experience improving engineering practices through automation, testing and CI/CD.
  • Ability to define technical roadmaps and deliver against strategic objectives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence engineering and business leaders.
  • Data-driven approach, using analytics and engineering metrics to guide technical decisions.
  • Passion for mentoring engineers and building high-performing teams.

 

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with modern Application Security tooling such as Checkmarx, Veracode, Fortify, SonarQube, Snyk or similar.
  • Background working within enterprise-scale engineering environments.
  • Experience leading security transformation or DevSecOps adoption initiatives.
