The Opportunity

My financial services client is looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join a product-focused engineering team developing AI and advanced analytics solutions. You'll work across the full data science lifecycle, helping design, build and deploy machine learning models that solve real business problems at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy machine learning and advanced analytics solutions.
• Build supervised and unsupervised ML models from concept through to production.
• Work closely with Product, Engineering and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Analyse large datasets to generate insights and improve product performance.
• Develop dashboards and visualisations using Tableau.
• Drive research into new AI, machine learning and analytical techniques.
• Lead technical delivery on complex data science initiatives.
• Mentor junior team members and promote best practices across the team.
• Ensure high-quality, scalable solutions are delivered on time.

Required Experience

• 5+ years' experience in Data Science or Machine Learning within a product or commercial environment.
• Strong understanding of machine learning, advanced analytics and statistical modelling.
• Excellent Python and SQL skills.
• Experience working with Spark and large-scale data processing.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and Databricks.
• Experience with Tableau or similar BI/visualisation tools.
• Knowledge of Hadoop technologies (Hive, Spark, Impala) is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Systems Engineer (Database Security)

Day rate contract - Hybrid (3 weeks remote, 1 full week onsite)

My client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join its Data Protection & Analytics team within the Cyber Security function. This team is responsible for monitoring and securing activity across critical database platforms. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining database monitoring solutions across a global environment.

Requirements:

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, MySQL, Cassandra, cloud-managed databases)
• Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices
• Experience with database security tools (e.g. IBM Guardium or similar) is an advantage
• Background in systems engineering, administration, or software engineering with strong troubleshooting skills
• Experience implementing and managing security controls across systems and networks
• Scripting knowledge (e.g. Python, Perl) preferred
• Exposure to DevOps, automation, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) beneficial
• Cloud experience (AWS or Azure) is a plus
• Strong Linux and Windows support knowledge
• Understanding of security and compliance standards (e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001, PCI)

An established organisation operating in the financial services domain is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with strong Java development expertise. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and backend systems that support business‑critical data platforms, analytics, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes
• Build and enhance robust backend services using Java (8/11/17)
• Work with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Hadoop
• Develop and optimise both real-time and batch data processing systems
• Integrate data from multiple internal and external sources, including high‑volume transactional and analytical systems
• Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance in line with industry regulations
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders such as engineers, analysts, and data scientists
• Drive improvements in system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Contribute to architecture design, technical standards, and best practices

Required Skills

• Strong Java programming experience
• Solid understanding of data engineering principles

• Experience working with cloud platforms
• Knowledge of data modelling and data warehousing
• Familiarity with microservices architectures
