Are you a passionate software engineer with a proven track record of developing robust applications in Java, Scala, Python or Kotlin? Would you like to join a global team with a strong local Zurich presence that are building completely greenfield front office tools to be used by Sales across all of the products that the bank covers which includes Equities, Structured Products and mandates. The team are tasked with developing the "fun stuff", ultimately taking a product first approach to developing the trading applications. Although there is a near shore team, the team in Zurich are responsible for decided the technology stack, designing the applications and developing them to replace what was a very vendor system heavy environment.

The core stack consists of a React front end, Java or Python backend, Kafka and MQ for Messaging, Mongo and Postgres for database and the applications are deployed on a Kubernetes cluster. Your specific programming language experience is not as important as your general approach to software development, the team are strong advocates for test driven development and alongside this are arguably leaps ahead of other organisations in terms of their investment in AI for coding assistance. So you will get the opportunity to build exciting greenfield trading applications, directly impact business users and also use AI professionally.

Senior Data Engineer

Are you an exeprienced JAVA developer looking for a new long term contract job? Do you have solid experience of server side JAVA development, coupled with experience of front end development in Angular? Are you interested in or experienced in cloud technology? If so this could be the perfect JAVA Developer contract job for you!
 
You will be joining a development team that are in the process of a multi year cloud and finance transformation program. The company are introducing a new cloud (Azure) based accounting and finance system, moving away from legacy mainfram to a new cloud native landscape. The development team are responsible for developing the integration layer, using JAVA Spring Boot microservices, with all CI/CD pipelines being done in Azure using Azure DevOps.
 
From a technical perspective, you will be developing the backend microservices and implementing the Angular Front End. There will also be some integration work to feed downstream data into the wider application landscape.
 
You are expected to have strong technical skills in JAVA, Spring Boot, Angular and an SQL database. Experience with Kafka and Native Cloud would be highly advantageous however it is not essential provided you have made use of containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes or Openshift.
 
The split will be approximately 50 percent back end and 50 percent front end, the weighting can go up or down depending on where your strength lies.
 
This is an urgent contract job, so candidates that can start in circa 1 month will be prioritised although there is potential that for the ideal candidate they can wait.

Although an initial 10 month contract, there is a high probability of extension depending on your performance.

They have a multi cloud environment with some AWS but predominantly Azure.

The need for a Technical Lead has come about because the development squads have been reorganised and the CTO is looking for someone to operate as his number two so he can focus on more strategic decision making. As the Technical Lead, you will take ownership for the development teams, ownership for delivery and drive design decisions.
