Scope

Nicoll Curtin is committed to managing and minimizing the impact our business has on the local, regional, and global environment. It is committed to pollution prevention and will comply with all relevant environmental laws, legislation, and codes of practice.

Most of the content of this policy applies to all our staff in all locations. However, some content might be affected by local rules and regulations. In that case Nicoll Curtin endeavours to be compliant with local legislation.

Purpose

This policy provides information on Nicoll Curtin’s engagement to follow and to promote environmental sustainability practice, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities and to help our clients and partners to do the same.

Principles

We are committed to being good stewards of the environment, and the Company has and will continue to put sustainable practices in place.

We ensure maximizing the efficient use of natural resources in our corporate workplaces and reduce our carbon footprint through efforts such as recycling and using recycled materials.

Practical Steps

We will monitor and evaluate our environmental impacts and are committed to making continuous improvements by always looking at ecologic products and working with suppliers who are environmentally conscious.

1. Going Paperless: In line with the Company’s environmental commitment to reduce the use of paper, all new starters are now sent soft copies of their paperwork and the employee handbook with the opportunity to request a hard copy. We discourage using print materials across our offices. In order to do this; we continuously strengthen our cloud and other data software usage.

2. Energy Use: By using environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources to meet our needs, we have invested in improved energy efficiency products, such as low energy and motion sensor lighting. Our UK office is placed in a shared working space, which is UK Green Building Council certified.

3. Recycling: We separate out materials in all our offices for recycling based on the local recycling regulations.

4. Water: Across our offices, we have water fountains to avoid single-use plastic bottle consumption. In the UK office, for personal consumption we use filtered and purified water.

5. Supply Chain: We will work with our suppliers to ensure they recognise and reduce the environmental impact of their products and transportation.

6. Transportation: We encourage green travel across our offices. Currently, our UK office has hybrid working policy for employees to come to the office only two days a week. We also have cycle to work scheme. As a global company, we continuously work on reducing our contribution to CO2 emission created by air travel. We have promoted and are currently increasingly relying on virtual meetings. Our traditionally in-person meetings, such as town halls or board meetings, now take place virtually.

7. Audit: We will conduct an annual self-evaluation of our performance in implementing these principles and in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. We will create an environmental sustainability committee with members from all offices, which will meet every six-months for monitoring purposes. They will also conduct the audit and review this policy on annual basis.
