Senior Software Data Engineer

I have a brand new day rate contracting opportunity with a financial services client of mine based in Galway. The role will be a hybrid position, where you will be required to be onsite 1 week per month (3 weeks fully remote from Ireland).

The Expertise We’re Seeking

• The role is primarily focused on Python, but open to experienced Java or C# engineers who are eager to cross-train and work with Python.
• Strong background in RDBMS and AWS.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and data structures.
• Familiarity with cloud computing concepts (AWS) and CI/CD tools.
• 6+ years of enterprise-level development experience, with a passion for working in fast-paced environments.

The Skills You Bring

• Demonstrated success in engineering solutions that process large datasets, build scalable applications, and enable rapid prototyping.
• Strong enterprise development background with a consistent record of driving projects from concept to delivery within ambitious timelines.
• Deep expertise in object-oriented programming.
• Hands-on experience developing custom data pipelines to extract, map, transform, and load data into various storage systems such as Oracle, Snowflake, S3, PL/SQL, or shared drives.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C#, ideally complemented by experience with data structure libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
• Familiarity with integrating and extracting data from REST APIs.
• Practical experience scripting in both Linux and Windows environments.
• Prior experience migrating applications to AWS is a strong advantage.

Cloud Engineer – Data Replication & CDC Role

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our Data Platform organisation, working within the Change Data Capture (CDC) and data replication domain. In this role, you will collaborate with a highly skilled, cross-functional engineering team focused on delivering robust, scalable, and modern data movement capabilities. You will partner closely with technical and business stakeholders to design and implement solutions that address complex data challenges across the organisation.
 

This role will be a 6 month initial day rate contract with a requirement to be onsite 1 full week per month in Galway (3 weeks fully remote).

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, deployment, and administration of modern data replication and CDC solutions.
• Work with data movement technologies including data streaming, data replication, and change data capture patterns.
• Implement and support enterprise-grade replication platforms such as GoldenGate, Fivetran, Striim and others
• Build and deploy cloud-based data solutions on AWS and Azure, leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Opentofu and Terraform.
• Promote and apply software engineering best practices across the team.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps tooling to support automated delivery.
• Mentor and support other engineers, contributing to a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.
• Maintain a strong commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.

I have a brand new Principal Site Reliability Engineer position with a financial services client of mine based in Galway. This role would be a permanent and hybrid position paying €80-90k. You will be required to be onsite 1 week per month (3 weeks fully remote).

Core Requirements

• Extensive experience working with AWS in live production environments.
• Managing and maintaining Kubernetes (EKS) clusters in multi-region setups.
• Experience creating and deploying Helm charts & libraries.
• Migrating workloads from ECS and running production services.
• Creating and deploying charts and reusable libraries.
• Authoring declarative CI/CD pipelines and shared libraries.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and Confluent platforms.
• CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk Cloud et.
• Automating tasks and troubleshooting systems.
• Managing access across large AWS environments.
• Terraform for provisioning and configuration.
• Python for scripting and automation.
• Git for distributed code management.
• Familiarity with Akamai for content delivery optimization.
