Overview
We are supporting our client in hiring a Database Modelling Specialist to work on critical national infrastructure within the Power Grid Utilities domain. These positions involve developing and maintaining data models that support transmission, distribution, and operational systems.
The client is flexible on salary, open to contract options, and does not require UK-based candidates, provided they reside in a NATO country.
This team plays a key role in supporting and enhancing systems used for EMS/ADMS/DNS applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop conceptual, logical and physical data models supporting operational and analytical requirements.
- Build and maintain electrical models supporting physical transmission and distribution networks.
- Develop database models for EMS and ADMS environments.
- Work with Display Builder and Electrical Single Line Diagram (SLD) tooling.
- Perform data profiling and identify data-quality improvements.
- Apply modelling best practices including normalisation/denormalisation, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and operational teams to translate business needs into scalable models.
- Mentor junior members and contribute to data architecture decisions.
Required Experience
Must have:
- 5+ years of Electrical Network database modelling experience.
- Experience in modelling Electrical Transmission and Distribution networks.
- Experience building data models for EMS/DNS/ADMS applications (minimum 2 years).
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL and databases such as Oracle (v19+).
- Experience working with Display Builder and Single Line Diagram (SLD) tools.
- Strong understanding of power grid systems (Grid Utilities required — Electricity, not Water).
- Ability to work within mission‑critical or regulated environments.
Technical Skills (Highly Advantageous)
- Oracle 19c+
- SQL (advanced level)
- Exposure to EMS/ADMS/DNS applications
- Data modelling tools (e.g., Erwin, InfoSphere, etc.)
- Understanding of Transmission & Distribution operations

- Salary is flexible, contract options considered, and roles will be inside IR35 for contracting.
